Getting Organised for Summer.

Summer is finally here (felt like the longest winter, right?), and it's the perfect time to declutter your house. Decluttering can be a daunting task, I get it, but it doesn't have to be.

Get organised

Start by setting a goal for yourself and make a plan of action. Decide which areas of your home you want to declutter first. Something I always say to my clients is to tackle one room at a time. Start with the room that bothers you the most.

Get Sorted!

Sort through items, and decide what to keep, donate, or throw away. Be mindful of what you use and what brings value to your life. If you haven't used something in the past year, maybe it's time to let it go? Don't forget about digital clutter as well. Go through your computer files, emails, and social media accounts and delete anything that's no longer necessary.

Put winter items away

A game-changer for me was when I started using clearly labelled airtight storage boxes to put away items and belongings that wouldn’t be needed again till Winter. Think blankets, winter clothing, bedding, decorations, etc. Then they will be easy to find again when it gets cold again. You can also rotate toys, prevent the dreaded boredom.

Place for everything

Another great way to declutter is to create designated spaces for items. Having a specific place for everything makes it easier to maintain a clutter-free environment. Use storage containers, baskets, and shelves to keep things organized. Designate specific areas in your home for different activities. Establish a crafting corner, reading nook, or a space for board games. This will not only keep your home tidy, but also make it easier for children to find and put away their toys (fingers crossed!)

Create a summer essentials kit

Have this kit on hand for outings and trips. It could include sunscreen, hats, snacks, water bottles and any other items you typically use as a family (maybe even a frisbee) for enjoying the outdoors. This will save you so much time and be ready to grab, preventing the last-minute scrambling.

Decluttering your house for summer will not only create a more organized living space but also help reduce stress and improve your overall well-being. So, grab some boxes, put on some music, and get ready for a clutter-free summer!
